Marga, cavar adentro es una instalación site-specific realizada en 2022 en la explanada del Parque Cultural de Valparaíso, bajo la curatoría de Pedro Donoso, inscrita en el marco curatorial 2022 del PCdV "El desafío de imaginarnos nuevamente juntxs". Fruto de dos años de investigación, la pieza fue concebida y pre-fabricada en el taller de Victoria Jolly en la Ciudad Abierta ubicada en Punta de Piedra, Ritoque, con la participación de estudiantes de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Al finalizar el año, recibió el Premio Obra Emergente 2022 de la organización Mujer Arquitecta.
La instalación consiste en una esfera sonora semihundida compuesta por 16 gajos cáscara de hormigón que forman una cúpula en equilibrio. Cada pieza de 12mm de espesor fue fabricada con moldajes textiles, técnica que permite al hormigón trasladar en su superficie el tejido y la textura de sus moldes. Una de las traducciones de marga corresponde a una roca sedimentaria formada por acumulación de materiales de distinto origen. Marga-Marga es también el nombre de una de las provincias de la región de Valparaíso, que en lengua kichwa significa liviano y transportable; en mapudungun es "malghen", mujer, aludiendo a las mujeres lavanderas que en tiempos prehispánicos se bañaban en el curso de agua con el mismo nombre, nacido de los macizos de la Cordillera de la Costa. La estructura, semihundida en el césped de la explanada, propone un refugio en el que entrar no supone atravesar, sino detenerse y escuchar adentro.

Marga, cavar adentro is a site-specific installation realized in 2022 on the esplanade of the Parque Cultural de Valparaíso, with curatorial direction by Pedro Donoso, inscribed within the PCdV's 2022 curatorial framework, "The challenge of imagining ourselves together again." The result of two years of research, the piece was conceived and prefabricated at Victoria Jolly's workshop in the Ciudad Abierta located in Punta de Piedra, Ritoque, with the participation of students from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. At the close of the year, it received the Premio Obra Emergente 2022 from the organization Mujer Arquitecta.
The installation consists of a semi-submerged sound sphere composed of 16 concrete shell segments that form a dome in equilibrium. Each 12mm-thick piece was made using textile formwork, a technique that allows concrete to transfer onto its surface the weave and texture of its molds. One of the translations of marga corresponds to a sedimentary rock formed by the accumulation of materials of varied origin. Marga-Marga is also the name of one of the provinces of the Valparaíso region, which in Quechua means light and transportable; in Mapudungun it is "malghen," woman, referring to the women washers who in pre-Hispanic times bathed in the waterway bearing the same name, born from the massifs of the Cordillera de la Costa. Semi-submerged in the esplanade's lawn, the structure offers a refuge where entering does not mean crossing through, but stopping and listening from within.
