Palio Ruinas para la Veracruz es una intervención artística realizada el 30 de mayo de 2025 al interior de la Iglesia de la Veracruz, Santiago, en el marco del conversatorio "La Necesidad de la Ruina", organizado por Alejandra Celedón y Martín Bernales desde la Facultad de Arquitectura, Arte y Diseño de la Universidad Diego Portales. La iglesia, declarada monumento histórico, sufrió graves daños producto de un incendio ocurrido durante el estallido social de 2019. Sus muros tiznados y la bóveda ennegrecida por el humo conforman hoy un espacio en ruina que ha abierto disputas sobre patrimonio, conservación e historia reciente. El conversatorio convocó a profesionales de arquitectura, artes, patrimonio y filosofía para reflexionar en torno al valor simbólico de la ruina en contextos contemporáneos.

La intervención y performance realizada por Victoria Jolly precedió la mesa de discusión con la instalación de telas y proyecciones visuales alrededor del espacio interior de la iglesia. Los mantos suspendidos en el recinto en ruina proponen una lectura del umbral entre lo que permanece y lo que se transforma, entre la huella del fuego y la posibilidad de nuevos significados. El título convoca la imagen del palio —tejido que cubre y protege— como gesto sobre una arquitectura herida, haciendo de la frontera entre destrucción y memoria un espacio de estadía.

Palio Ruinas para la Veracruz is an artistic intervention realized on May 30, 2025, inside the Iglesia de la Veracruz, Santiago, as part of the symposium "La Necesidad de la Ruina" (The Necessity of the Ruin), organized by Alejandra Celedón and Martín Bernales from the Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design of the Universidad Diego Portales. The church, listed as a historic monument, suffered severe damage from a fire set during the 2019 social uprising. Its scorched walls and smoke-blackened vault now constitute a space in ruin that has opened disputes around heritage, conservation and recent history. The symposium brought together professionals from architecture, the arts, heritage and philosophy to reflect on the symbolic value of the ruin in contemporary contexts.

The intervention and performance realized by Victoria Jolly preceded the discussion panel with the installation of fabric and visual projections throughout the interior of the church. The suspended mantles within the ruined space propose a reading of the threshold between what endures and what transforms, between the trace of fire and the possibility of new meanings. The title evokes the image of the pallium — a fabric that covers and protects — as a gesture over a wounded architecture, making the frontier between destruction and memory a place of dwelling.
